Benefits of Yoga Practice for Middle-Aged People

There have been numerous articles on measuring the health effects of different yoga practice and specific yoga postures. Numerous studies have been conducted relating yoga to health. A very recent one proves that even yoga practice once a week, maintained periodically over time will avert the weight gain connected with aging. Who could ask for anything more?
Consistent sessions of yoga will help counteract those problem areas that we are all too familiar with.
Researchers at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center conducted a study that showed 30 minutes of consistent yoga practice done over a period of four years led to weight loss for overweight middle-aged people.
From a study of 20,000 men and women, researches have concluded that yoga was much more beneficial to the men and women who did yoga on a regular basis than those who did not.
There are many myths that center around weight loss combined with an active exercise program, rest assured that the people did not enroll in an active session of yoga. Researches believe that through the study of yoga, individuals learn to become conscious of their bodies, which results to the weight loss.
